  1. I haven't read the books (yet), so it's fine with me. Like Maisie Williams once said: "That’s why I liked moments like this, because book readers think they know what’s coming, then we change it and it’s really funny to watch their reactions. They’re always like, ‘That’s not what happened in the books, so the show’s really bad now.’ But really, they just feel insecure because they’re used to knowing what’s coming next."

  2. Rolling Stones Will Reportedly Tour North America This Summer
by Michael Gallucci February 11, 2015 4:23 PM

If we’re to believe Ronnie Wood — and really, why wouldn’t we believe him? — the Rolling Stones will be touring North America this summer. The guitarist shared the info with GMI Rock News (via WMGK) during a recent interview.

The Stones last toured the continent two years ago as part of their 50th-anniversary 50 & Counting Tour. More recently, the band played shows in New Zealand and Australia as part of the same golden-anniversary celebration.

Speaking with GMI Rock News, Wood said, ”Oh yeah, we had a meeting in New York with the boys, and we’re gonna come to North America again in the summer.”

During the 2013 run, the group was joined onstage by a wide range of artists — including Taylor Swift, Sheryl Crow and even former guitarist Mick Taylor, whom Wood replaced in 1975 — who helped the Stones cover some of their most popular songs.

The shows will be the first the Stones have performed since the death of longtime sideman Bobby Keys, who passed away on Dec. 2, 2014. They haven’t released any new music since 2012, when a pair of songs showed up on the ‘Grrr!’ compilation.

  5. The first time I realized what Steve did for the band was when he broke his hand in Michigan. Tried to punch through a wall and busted his hand. So we had Fred Coury come in from Cinderella for the Houston show. Fred played technically good and steady, but the songs sounded just awful. They were written with Steve playing the drums and his sense of swing was the push and pull that give the songs their feel. When that was gone, it was just...unbelievable, weird. Nothing worked. I would have preferred to continue with Steve, but we'd had two years off and we couldn't wait any longer.

  6. Lung Cancer, Pacemaker: More Malcolm Young Health Woes Detailed
by Matthew Wilkening January 8, 2015 11:14 PM

More details have emerged on the health troubles that former AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young endured in recent years in addition to his much-publicized battle against dementia.

According to Q Magazine, the rock legend was diagnosed with lung cancer at the conclusion of the band’s tour in support of the 2008 album ‘Black Ice.’ Luckily, thanks to early detection, doctors were able to treat the condition successfully via an operation.

Then, it was discovered that Young had an unspecified heart condition, which required him to have a pacemaker installed. Judging from the way he revealed the news to bandmate Brain Johnson, these incidents did little to affect Malcolm’s spirit. “This is typical Malcolm,” Johnson explains, “He got a hold of my hand and went… (bangs repeatedly on his chest) Pacemaker. F—ing good, mate.’ He scared the s— out of us! And there’s a twinkle in his eye, he was tickled pink. It’s like he was showing us a new fuzzbox or something!”

Lead guitarist Angus Young talked to GMI Rock about what his brother had been through, and the “not easy” decision to carry on without him: “Besides the mental side with the dementia, he had physical problems also. He had a lung operation, which was pretty critical, but he got treatment for that because they got to it. It was like a cancer. So they got that early and then later on he had also a heart problem. So it was like everything hit him at once. The physical side of him, he got great treatment for all that so he’s good with all that, but the mental side has deteriorated. He himself had said, ‘I won’t be able to do it anymore.’”

As a result, Angus and the rest of the band recruited his (and Malcolm’s) nephew Stevie Young to play on the the acclaimed 2014 album ‘Rock or Bust‘ as well on as their upcoming world tour, which is set to kick off May 5 in Arnhem, Holland.

  7. ‘The Raid’ Action Trio Tapped For ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Principal photography wrapped before the holidays, but more secrets keep spilling out of Jj Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The new year brings word that martial artist Iko Uwais, who kicked and sliced his way through Gareth Evans’ Indonesian action hits The Raid and The Raid 2, will appear in Star Wars alongside fellow Raid 2 performers Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman.
Uwais broke out on the international action scene in 2011’s The Raid as a Jakarta cop who fights his way out of a tenement filled with knife- and gun-wielding thugs using the bone-crunching martial art of pencak silat.

  8. AC/DC's Phil Rudd: 'I Want My Job Back'
The drummer calls the criminal charges against him "ludicrous" in a new interview

    By Daniel Kreps | December 22, 2014

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has declared that he will be rejoining the group by the time it embarks on its world tour next year, despite facing charges of drug possession and threatening to kill in New Zealand. "I'm going back to work with AC/DC, and I don't care who likes it and who doesn't," Rudd told New Zealand's One News. "I want my job back, I want my reputation back and I'm gonna get it back. I'm gonna fucking take it back."

The drummer, who has pleaded not guilty, also called the charges against him "ludicrous." "This has just been a big ball of cheese, and all the rats are gathering and having a piece. That's just life. But that's not who I am," Rudd said of the charges against him. "Everyone listens to the wrong people. They should listen to me. I'm a good guy – and a pretty good drummer, by the way. Ask Angus [Young], he'll tell you." Rudd is due back in court February 10th, 2015 for a review hearing.

As for the drummer's immediate plans? "I'm going fishing, flying this afternoon and lots of fornicating tonight."

While Rudd does drum on Rock or Bust, AC/DC have soldiered on without him on the LP's promotional tour: Rudd didn't appear in early press photos for Rock or Bust, and drummer Bob Richards filled in for Rudd in both the "Play Ball" and "Rock or Bust" videos. "Phil's absence will not affect the release of our new album, Rock or Bust, and upcoming tour next year," the band wrote in a statement following Rudd's arrest.

Despite the sense that AC/DC were moving on without their longtime drummer, guitarist Angus Young was still undecided over Rudd's future with the band. "The drum situation is a question mark," Young told Rolling Stone. "But we will definitely be out there." The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have still not made a definitive statement on Rudd's status, but expect a decision to be made before the Rock or Bust Tour kicks off May 5, 2015 in Arnhem, Holland.
