  3. Guns N' Roses - Axl Rose Went On Songwriting Hiatus Due To Criticism From Former Bandmates

He tells USA Today, "They did damage to my ability as a writer. To those three it was all c**p. It beat me down so much. At the time of the (Use Your Illusion) tours, Slash and Duff said: 'You're an idiot, you're a loser.' I didn't write for years."

And due to his inner turmoil Rose admits he struggled to find the right words to explain his feelings in songs.

He adds, "I was trying to figure out what I wanted to say - when it's right to be venting, and when you're digging a bigger hole."

I think Slash said once, that he and the rest of the band wanted lyrics for rock 'n' roll songs (about sex, alcohol, drugs...), but all Axl's lyrics were about his deep emotions and "other complicated words".

  4. Thanks for the list. I have pretty much all of those, but didn't have "time" to organize all this stuff.

No problem. I'll keep moving forward with it once I get more information on the later Use Your Illusion demos. That's gonna be quite a project.

Do you have any informations about songs like Sentimental Movie, Too Much Too Soon, Bad Obsession with Izzy on vocals, Bring It Back Home, Just another Sunday...?

There are also demos of Yesterdays, The Garden, Back Off Bitch (instrumental), etc....

If anyone knows anything about these songs... please share the knowledge with us. :)

This Izzy interview makes it pretty clear why he left

Yes, this is a great interview. I was reading some old interviews and found an interesting Axl's statement (maybe shines some light on Axl's "control freak" side). He calls Mick Jagger a dictator (But after working with Jagger it was like, don’t anybody ever call me a dictator again. You go work for the Stones and you’ll find out the hard way what working for a real dictator is like!) , but later somehow he turned into one...

Axl: /.../ Not Jagger, anyway. That guy walks off stage and does paper work. He checks everything. That guy is involved in every little aspect of the show, from what the backing singers are getting paid to what a particular part of the PA costs to buy or hire. He is on top of all of it. Him and his lawyer and a couple of guys he hangs out with. But basically, it’s all him. And this is where I sympathise. I mean, I don’t sit around checking the gate receipts at the end of every show, but sometimes the frontman.... I don’t know. You don’t plan on that job when you join the band. You don’t want that job. You don’t wanna be that guy to the guys in your band that you hang out with and you look up to. But somebody’s got to do it. Not Jagger, anyway. That guy walks off stage and does paper work. He checks everything. That guy is involved in every little aspect of the show, from what the backing singers are getting paid to what a particular part of the PA costs to buy or hire. He is on top of all of it. 6. Re-record a classic song like SCOM - the stupidest thing ever (in the GN'R world).

it's not like they change the past.. it's another version, a plus for the listeners. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

I don't listen to it because I think it's terrible (compared to the original song). And I seriously doubt that they have get any new listeners/fans because of this song.

If they wanted to do a "favour" for the fans, they should record a new song - like they did for the End of Days movie.

  7. He was at the afd 25 year party with the whole gang including Gilby and Matt

wait a minute I just realized something, how could he have been at that party in LA if that same day he was in the UK doing a surprise club gig with Axl? Was the party on a different day than the actual anniversary?

He was at the 20th anniversary (2007).
