Can someone give me some names of some existential or deep sort of movies?

The kind of movies that if one was looking for inspiration to write, they could find it there?

For an example, Blade Runner is a movie I consider existential. Kundun is another, it obviously influenced Axl.

Mulholland Drive

good choice!

i'll second that with vanilla sky. i think that movie changed my life.

maybe memento too.

Still need to watch both those movies, even though I know how Memento ends.

watch vanilla sky now!!! really underrated film, never thought it would be as good as it was. tom cruise delivers, easily one of my favorite films by him.

Well the reason I mentioned it, aside from the fact that I watched it last night, is because it is a) about a kid who commits a murder but doesn't know why and is completely emotionally detached and B) his father is a famous writer and the guy looking after him in prison is an aspiring writer....although it may not make you want to write about it. If I need to do some writing I tend to immerse myself in things that make me feel the need to write moreso than things that look like they might be something I want to write about. You know, a film like Into The Wild, or in the other direction Capote or something like that.
