zeek
When I saw GnR in Sydney a few years ago, Rose Tattoo opened. GnR was due to hit the stage at 10pm. It wasn't until 11:30pm that they ended up coming on. It was a Monday night, so a lot of people had to leave the show halfway through the set.. Pretty irritating!Apparently the show before that was in Melbourne, and while the support act was playing, Axl was still on the tarmac in Brisbane..It seems like a common occurance. Has anybody else experienced the poor punctuality of Axl?

Guest
I'm not saying Axl couldn't do better by turning up on time, but after two decades of the same shit, you'd have thought people by now would've expected he'd turn up late. It'd be like going to see a James Bond film without a sexual inneundo, you just expect it.

The rumour was Axl was still in Melbourne as Tats N' Baz were playing.I was at that show, it didn't bother me. I mean, you can sit there and whinge all you want about the band being late, or you could listen to the awesome tunes they played over the PA and have bourbon. I've been to 9 GN'R shows. They were late to all besides Adelaide 2007 and Sydney 2010. As long as they hit the stage I was not concerned at all.
Guest gunns5
Post a link or it didnt happenGNR frontman Axel Rose was seen apparently burning up concert time in the casino on wednesday evening instead of fronting his fans at Reid Park. Casino staff and members of the public were surprised to see Axel and his entourage still gambling away when they were supposed to be on stage at Reid Park. Axl seemed to be in no hurry to leave after apparently latching on to a winning streak at Jupiters Casino earlier in the evening. He was eventually spotted leaving in a police escort down Sir Leslie Theiss Drive at about 9.30pm.http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=177698http://townsvillenewsonline.com/one-armed-bandit-keeps-rose-from-fans-p80-71.htm

Nightrain7
Sydney 2007, they came on at 11.30pm and i still loved it.. The only downside is the crowd lacks enthusiasm and energy when waiting for so long..Sydney 2010, they came on at 8.30pm which shocked me, i was a bit dissapointed that i didnt have to wait lol- if that makes sense (it builds tension and excitment)The earlier time slot obviously suited everyone with public transport etc..But when goin to a rock concert espicially a GNF'N'R concert, i dont expect any punctuality... Screamin' Demon
The thing is though, it's only the initial waiting period that takes long. Eg. when you enter the arena and wait for the first band to open up. From there the waiting time between bands isn't all that long. Axl and the boys opened up somewhat over 30 minutes past the last opening act in 2007 and last year they opened up about the same. Unless you wait 1.5-2hrs after the last opening act, then I don't see a big problem.

As long as they hit the stage I was not concerned at all.there are always rumours about where axl might be or why he is late, i remember when they played Nottingham 2006 and the band where late on stage, a magazine posted a review and said the were late because "Axl was having a roast dinner or something" which of course has been taking as gospel by the people of Nottingham and people say it all the time .When I saw them at Leeds last year there were stewards around the arena saying they werent there and that the organisers were trying to ind a band to replace them because they didnt show up to sound check loads of people believed it as well the amount of people i had to say "have you heard any bands do a sound check? you are in the same field!" to was ridiculous
