Dizzy Reed: 'This is the real Guns N' Roses'

I don't care about his obvious loyalty to Axl. What I hope is this interview will offer an updated perspective on the status of the follow-up to Chinese Democracy.

Oh, the HOF disagrees. :shades:

The HOF??? :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol:

Lolllllll

And many in the world agree with the HOF. You're overwhelmingly outnumbered.

Your statement is bullshit and even if it was true many people thought the world was flat a long time ago Lolllll

Bullshit, huh? Let's see nugnr play the same venues that real GNR played when they were relevant. How many empty seats would there be? Even the empty seats outnumber you. :shades:

This is what left of Guns N'Roses so technically it is Guns N'Roses. I think Axl was considering a new metal kind of album for Chinese Democracy in 2000 with the likes of Silkworms and Oh My God... Especially Silkworms, that song would only be acceptable in the new metal era when you had bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, NIN and bands like that...So you can call it NEW Metal GNR LOL! Or if you prefer... Crap GNR

And just like moths to a flame, all the people living in the past come out in droves to discredit Dizzy, insult him, and talk shit. Axl owns them all. Haha.

Right because Axl doesn't own Dizzy's ass..tha man was jobless and on the verge of being homeless and when Axl hired him...What the fuck else do you expect him to say as Axl is his meal ticket....Axl cultists blind loyalty never ceases to amaze me..........

Doesn't change the fact that you and all your little clones are living in the past. That's the difference between you and me. I've accepted reality. You're desperately clinging to some fantasy delusion of yesteryear. Good luck with that.

You accept Axl's reality of things without question mate which is quite different from the real world.......makes you no better than a cult member........

and I have never once said I am waiting for a reunion as I seen the real thing back in 1987 and 1988 so no clinging on the past here...........

Forget Slash, Izzy and Duff. "[We are] the real Guns N' Roses," says the band's longtime keyboardist and Axl Rose's last ally Dizzy Reed.

Reed joined the band in 1990, just in time to be part of the Use Your Illusion album, and apart from Axl Rose is the longest-serving member of the current line-up. Speaking to FL ahead of Guns N' Roses March tour, Reed reacted emphatically to suggestions the current incarnation of the Guns N' Roses wasn't the real deal. "Those people [that make accusations] obviously haven't seen the band and I think people who do feel that way, when they come see the band will definitely change their tune."

The original 1986 "Geffen-era" Gunners line-up consisted of Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler, however, Reed dismissed notions that the band's current players are somehow less legitimate. "This is Guns N' Roses, therefore it is the real Guns N' Roses," he said. "There's not two Guns N' Roses out there playing anymore. People can choose to live in the past as much as they want, it's not going to change anything. This band is the best band I've ever been in, and we go out and we kick ass every night, give a thousand per cent."

Today marks the 20th-anniversary of Guns N' Roses infamous Calder Park Speedway gig in Melbourne, which saw 75,000 rock fans battle blistering heat, a lack of water and general amenities. It's become etched into Aussie rock folklore for all the wrong reasons, but Reed says he doesn't really remember all the problems on the ground. "You know, I guess I missed all of that," he told FL. "I never really heard any of that stuff. I remember it being really hot and that there was a lot of people needing water."

However, he did recall having a premonition-like dream the night before the event. "I was having all these crazy dreams about tornadoes and stuff and then we had to take a chopper out there, a helicopter, and there were some stormy skies. When we landed I remember some of the crew telling us there had been tornadoes, which was kind of weird. If I'd known they even had tornadoes down there I probably wouldn't have got on the helicopter." Last September we spoke to former bassist Duff McKagen about his recollections of the gig. Read about it here.

Guns N' Roses will play shows in Perth, Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Brisbane alongside ZZ Top and Rose Tattoo presented by FL this March.

The full interview with Dizzy Reed will be published in the coming weeks.

I have nothing against Dizzy but this band compared to the original band, y'know, the band that wrote the music this current band is living off, has no comparison at all. Don't even forget about Buckethead, Finck and Freese/Brain, people responsible for CD, which are not in the band anymore. I believe Dizzy is misinformed because he didn't join until 1990.

I believe he couldn't say otherwise, he has to support his current band.

Gee that's funny, I thought we were talking about Dizzy. I don't accept "Axl's reality." I accept reality. Axl has said, repeatedly, in no uncertain terms: no reunion, going to continue to use the name, no hugging it out with Slash. That's not "Axl's reality." That's just he reality of what he has said. Unlike you and some others around here, I can deal with lineup changes: I'm a fan of several bands who have had significant lineup changes: Deep Purple, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, among others. And I like the various incarnations of each of those bands (except for David Coverdale Deep Purple, /jk). It is what it is. I've accepted the reality, nothing more. Hell, I was pissed off when Matt joined the band. I hated him and his sound and his look. But even at 12 years old, I learned to accept him as part of the band's evolution. Lineups change. Shit happens.

Talking shit about Axl on the internet won't accomplish anything, other than to cupcake people who have moved on and are simply enjoying Guns n Roses in its current incarnation. We get it. No really we do. lol

Awwwwww he's annoyed. How dare you annoy him with your opinion. How dare you post your opinion here.

You like to use the word "opinion" a lot, but when I look through your posting history, your "opinion" is basically obsessively repeating the same insults over and over (and over) about Axl. There's a difference between an opinion and talking shit. Classicrawker falls into the former category, you quite obviously fall into the latter. It's actually stunning how determined you are to set a record for talking shit about Axl on the internet. I'm sure you're very proud and brag to all your friends in the real-world.

I'm sure Axl sleeps better at night knowing you are defending his honour on the internet good sir!

I'm sure Axl sleeps better at night knowing how disgruntled you are. I mean, after all, you have thousands of posts repeating the same insults over and over. Maybe you should seek therapy for what mean ol' Axl has done to you, you poor thing. aHa!

Actually I find this decade long trainwreck rather entertaining. I should probably send Axl a hallmark thank you card and a burger voucher for all the laughs.

EDIT: And Dizzy, he's quite the comedian too.

Actually maybe we have taken Dizzy up wrong here. Maybe he meant to distinguish the band from other Gun N Roses cover bands like Guns2Roses etc.
