Tater Totts Posted February 27, 2014 Share Posted February 27, 2014 You either don't do it or you man the fuck up, much like slide tackles on astroturf.A more serious answer is that futsal moves at such a pace that slide tackles are rarely ever useful as they are hard to pull off and take you out of the game. By the time you're in position and have attempted to make a tackle the ball is on the otherside of the pitch and you're left on your arse with a red face.I've played it on and off for 5/6 years and have probably seen a full blooded slide tackle about a dozen times, out of those about two of them were successful and even then the person making the tackle ended up limping for a good while due to hitting a hard floor very painfully.I won't lie, first time I played futsal I tried a slide tackle, missed and ended up with a friction burn all up my leg and resulted in a goal being scored against us. As you say, the emphasis was small possession games focused on touch, passing and movement.The luxury they have is that Spain has a climate for producing better pitches, or from my experiences playing football in Spain, a lot more hard courts with football goals.Here we get charged a fortune to use any hard courts, and our parks are bogs or cut up multi use rugby-cricket-football pitches that suit the British go long hoof ball.I know this is similar to when Len (I think) said a few pages back, but I think I could rewrite youth football and get things on the right track. Ball is size 4, and heavier - means? Doesn't bounce anywhere near as much - encourages close control, on the floor. What's embarrassing, is that it has existed since about the 1930s. German bundesliga isn't much diff to Prem. Ozil is hailed as this player but he comes to prem and hasn't stormed it. But I think we now have the players to put out a possession team. The Liverpool players under Rodgers, Wilshire, Lallana. You just need to train up some midgets with quick feet and learn how to take penos. And dive like fuck. He's scum.Well mate, if you're going to put your head/ hands into a players face of course they will make a meal out of it. I have no sympathy for players who get sent off for stuff like that as it is their own fault for putting themselves in a position they didn't need to be.Earlier in the game Soldado elbowed a Dnipro player and somehow didn't get booked, should have been off and it was his own fault and there would have been no sympathy as it was stupid and needless.I mean I don't agree with players doing it and making a meal of it, but did Torres really need to put hands on Jan's face earlier in the season?
