Chelsea have signed Bertrand Traore - this kid could go places, sub in the African Nations Cup in 2012 at 17 years old. He's been an unofficial Chelsea player for a few years but due to Work Permit and Visa rules he couldn't sign for us.

Got a few goals in pre season for Chelsea and looked pretty bright. Remember the name!

Not to rain on your parade, well maybe a little but heard the same things about Di Santo and countless other youth prospects at all clubs, very few of them ever amount to anything.

I didn't see much in Di Santo, and boy is he a frustrating player. All of a sudden he goes on a run and gets 4 goals in 5 games, then it's 25 games without a goal.

Josh McEachran has the ability to go places, but I understand it is the attitude and application that has been holding him back.

I had hoped a stint at Boro would give him a shock at the difference between Prem and Championship, but no luck yet.

Chalobah could be a good player to watch, but maybe not a Chelsea player.

Also think that Ryan Bertrand hasn't moved on in the past 2 years, he was a player that Chelsea trusted on the wing against Robben and Ribery as he made his Champs League debut in a final, but not much since.

Perhaps a period of stability will allow these youngsters to settle and flourish...

I rate Tom Huddlestone as one of the best passers in the Premier League, but he is a play that would have flourished in the 90's like Beckham. Sadly the 60 yard cross field pass doesn't seem to have much of a place these days.

He's kind of like Carrick with an afro. probably a better buy than than Fellali unless you have a long throw specialist. thats what utd missing someone to hit valencia or young wide. so many going astray.

Who was the young black player Chelsea had, was a big court case about him being tapped up as a youngster and he wasn't allowed to play for ages ?

Edit: it was Kakuta?

he was almost a utd player. a bit like Mikel.

Stoked for today's big game, Utd-Spurs. Hoping for a shock Spurs victory.

Southampton-Chelsea is currently on BT Sport. I absolutely hate the way Mourinho approaches a game - so boring.

To put on Oscar (just assisted the first goal) and Willian (just scored the second)

Feel a bit thick yet?

Are you honestly telling me you reacted positively at the time of Mata going off?

I'm watching the game. Chelsea grind teams down psychologically through monotonous defending. It's pretty telling that all three of their goals have come in the latter part of the game (when Mourinho loosens his defensive set-up). Edited by NGOG

I call that good football, the idea is to win right? Mourinhos football works, its not end to end and its not always double exciting but then those sorts of entertaining matches usually are the way they are due to weaknesses more than anything, they're not showcases for the best football, a tight tactical defensive display that eventually leads to 3-0 wins away from home, well thats just exceptional football, defensively and attacking-wise.

Then Oscar adds a third, substitutes win the game!

I didn't have a problem with Mata and Shurrle going off, both were ineffective today.

Also, Mourinho didn't loosen the defensive set up today, he made like for like subs until 3-0 even we took off Hazard.

But before Mata was taken off you were praising his linkage. Every pundit was baffled by Mourinho taking Mata off. If he didn't get lucky with the Torres goal - at which point Southampton heads went down - Mourinho could have been looking at a different reaction to his changes.

In terms of tactics, Mourinho changed the emphasis to his attacking midfielders.

It's arguable that Oscar should been sent to the line for his disgraceful simulation.

Certainly they are very talented players and I would like 2 of said 4 in my team. Never said they were a team lacking talented players just that they are imo the team I least like viewing. Mainly they have a great deal of unlikeable, whinging, diving, cheating, unscrupulous players that probably doesn't help with the manager they have. Fair play to mourinho there for admitting that oscar deserved a yellow card for blatantly diving.
