The fact it is set in London, obviously is good. I get to see some old haunts.I like the 12 episode thing and I could roll with that for another season. I am not sure if I would want a spin off 24 with the blonde lady though on her own. She has been fine, but I doubt she could carry a series without Jack. It would be like Alias (with jennifer garner) but that was a pretty boring show so I don't think that format works as you said.I think the ending with Jack going to russia leaves open the possibility of him returning for another season (we can only hope that there's another season). The only character that would be difficult to replace would be Chloe, she is so interesting in a very unique way.Not at all surprised Jack gave himself up for Chloe, he's loyal like that.
