Okay, so. Seeing them live didn't really change my opinions on anything really. I won't deny the band sounds tight, but all of that goes down the drain when Myles opens his mouth to me. The fundamental problems I have with The Conspirators are I don't like Myles' voice and I don't particularly like Slash's solo songs. Slash was ripping, but their set wasn't a "revelation" as a number of members in here have told me it would be.

I dunno.. I think you gotta see him headlining his own show, with his own crowd and full set. I always prefer to see a band at night as well, when the sun is down.. Something about outdoor daytime shows that just doesn't do it for me...

They tore the roof off the place last Friday \m/

Wow you caught a bad performance man.. Watching now.. Worst version of Anastasia I have ever seen.. They were playing too fast.. No extended jams on anything.. sound sucks and Slash is sloppy..

I mean, I didn't really expect any jams - it was a 50 minute set, just like 9 songs. There were points where I thought Slash was a little sloppy (Most notably SCOM), but all in all I can't complain about him specifically.

For the record, the sound through the PA sucked too. Very treble-y, with no real punch. Drum sound was shit too. Slash was the only main stage act I saw with really bad sound.

Thats too bad it wasn't really a great show. I hate to join the rest, but I agree a festival is not the best way to experience this band. Honestly, I saw them open for Aerosmith, and if I didn't know they were already great it would have been hard to tell from that. Myles is NOT Axl, so when they are on a bigger stage they lack something. Stage presence, real dynamic stage show, whatever it is. I think the people here that love him would even agree with that. But in a small club, they kick the ass of any band out there nowadays and I firmly stand by that. I wouldn't see him so much if that wasn't the case.

I can understand it if you don't like Myles. He's not for everyone, and if you don't like him it may be hard to get on board with the whole thing. My advice would be next time you have the chance to see him, experience a headline show. Don't travel, as that'll probably add to expectations. Just next time they happen to come to your area, try checking them out, cause the show's are cheap and thats a much better representation of them. I think even that context Myles may annoy you less cause he's not having to be a "frontman" to a festival or big crowd. Sad to see I saw them a day or two before you did and you got the exact opposite experience. Myles and his voice were maybe the best I've heard them (really clear and really strong) with Slash making very few mistakes and having more energy than I've maybe ever seen him with. Sad that didn't stick around or really show itself in a festival context.

Anastasia was pretty sloppy too.. He had sweat all over his guitar which probably didn't help... He almost seemed to get confused with the stupid doubleneck guitar. I don't like that thing.. It is kind of pointless, I don't like the looks and the song sounds better on a LP anyway.. That Sydney performance out there is awesome.. Agree again about the sound.. Very treble-y.. I was watching the bands prior to that and the sound was fine.. Bummer man.. Hope you give them another shot in their own environment. It seems anytime they play there, it is a festival though. I have friends and family in Columbus..

I actually thought they were great when I saw them opening for Aerosmith... It was still an abbreviated show but the sound was on point and I thought it was cool seeing them on the big stage.. Again, it wasn't there crowd so people didn't know their songs and it was still daylight but I loved it.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I LOVED seeing them open for Aerosmith. I was lucky enough to see Slash and Myles and this band at one of the first shows they ever did. To see them 4 years later opening for Aerosmith in big amphitheaters and arenas? I was very proud of them. I just don't think they "converted" a lot of people. The energy was different and they don't have a great control of the big stage yet (which is understandable since they don't do it a lot). Combine that with the lack of people that showed up early enough and I don't think it was the best place or representation to see them for the first time. But as a seasoned Slash concertgoer, I loved it and they were great.

To me, Myles is the guy that is pretty solid, not really much in the big arenas or main stage festival slots, but really in the theater-sized venues (either with Alter Bridge or Slash). I think, internally, it's a sense of these people paid to see him (as part of a band), in the small venues, they know good things about him (in AB's cases, the fans know everything about him), which means it's easier to get a good connection with the fans. There's a huge difference between having 30,000 people in an outdoor venue where they do not really have a good clue on who you are, compared to having 1,500-2,500 fans in a headlining theater gig where the majority knows a lot about you.

I can recall seeing the videos of this one show. It was a small benefit show in a small venue back in 2009. The crowd was a small bunch, but it was full of really diehard Myles fans. There's nothing on the stage other than a stool, an acoustic guitar, and him and, honestly, not only did he perform extremely well for his standards, he just had a good aura and banter with the crowd that day, cracking jokes and tidbits here and there (mainly telling people that he cannot pull off wearing leather pants).
