Dan H.
Not a group I see discussed a lot here, I've been really digging into their catalogue and Ian Anderson really sucks you in. He's a really captivating frontman. Something about this band just really gets me.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LQyVH2TD1pMAnyone else like Jethro Tull around here? moreblack
I've been a fan on and off, not super into them, but for prog satisfaction, very few things beat Thick As A Brick. Also, the riff from Aqualung is undeniable.

Val22
One of my all time favorite bands since the early 1970's. I've seen them many times in concert in Madison Square Garden in NYC. always, entertaining and their albums are so good.I remember hearing "Thick as a Brick" and then seeing it performed and thought it was one of the greatest shows ever.Ian Anderson's flute playing and performance was one of the most entertaining I've ever seen live! Their music was very different for the time and Ian's voice was very unique. Their music still holds up today showing how much society hasn't changed for the better at all. Blacula
Never really liked them until one night when I decided to drive abroad alone. It was a cold dark winter night and the journey turned out to be dreadful. At one point they started to play Jethro Tull concert on the radio and it was so cool I can't describe Edited November 21, 2014 by Blacula

gunsfanoldie
Aqualung, the song as well as the album, is undeniable. Its the best thing they've ever done, except thats coming from a moderate fan. I could be wrong, but I feel I'm not. So many amazing songs on that album. Cross Eyed Mary, My God, Up To Me, Wind Up, Hymn 43. Their 3 albums before Aqualung are also really good. Not quite as great, but still pretty consistently great. Its after Aqualung that they lose it. That was at least where my family stopped listening to them. For years, I didn't really know they had anything after Aqualung. I later discovered Thick As A Brick, which I was told sucked, but is actually a pretty good record. A little over ambitious, but thats kind of the point. It gets tedious after 40 minutes, but it is solid, and sounds exactly what Tull is.I haven't dove into their other albums. Don't really care to. My dad and I have had long standing arguments about whether they should be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame or not. He, the man who doesn't know a thing by them past Aqualung, thinks they should, while I don't think they ever really did enough to warrant it. Obviously with Abba and Madonna in, I'd prefer them. But if we were going on actual merits, I don't think they ever did enough. They had one amazing album with Aqualung, and the rest is very good or middle of the road. I firmly believe you have to have 3 GREAT albums to get into the Hall Of Fame, and they just seemed like a band that never quite had enough influence on people, besides being synonymous with the flute. Val22
First song I ever heard from JT was Teacher. I thought it was awesome. I was hooked right there and then.Seen them many times in the 70's live. They rocked it. I think one of the all time rock bands. There sound was very unique and Ian's voice was like no one else at that time.
