NineInchGun
So we know that Slash, Duff and Frank are involved. Why keep the rest of the lineup a secret? What positive purpose does that serve? And how long will they wait to announce it? The cat is out of the bag. Slash and Duff have acknowledged they are part of it. How long till they release the rest of the names?I think it has something to do with the possibility of the Coachella lineup being different than whatever the touring lineup is supposed to be.Good point. Coachella would pay crazy money to bribe Axl into playing with Steven (and Izzy). The festival would love to claim the only night of the original five reunited. axlslash
You couldn't pay me to go to Coachella. That many dirty hipsters in one place? Nope. I'll watch on YouTube, thanks.
Gordon Comstock
As epic as it would be to see the first show, fuck going to Coachella. It'll be streamed, that's good enough for me.
Ak1nney
As epic as it would be to see the first show, fuck going to Coachella. It'll be streamed, that's good enough for me.Fingers crossed. Last year Jack White headlined the Saturdays and we fortunately got AXS tv covering the second weekend. Nothing from the slot the first weekend. That would suck for this. NineInchGun
The festival looks absolutely nothing like the big rock festivals we have here in Europe like Rock am Ring or Roskilde - but from the lineup (and prices) it seems to be a big temporary theme park with lots of very mainstream pop music and presumably that kind of audience!?!.....For almost 15 years, that type of rock dominated the US festival scene between Lolla, Warped and Ozzfest.Around the time Ozzfest was dying out and the revived traveling Lollapalooza lost money, multi-day destination camping festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella started to gain popularity. Bonnaroo was born out of jam band culture, appealing to fans of Phish, Dave Matthews and the Dead. Coachella was a little more mainstream, and embraced harder stuff like Nine Inch Nails, Tool and Rage Against the Machine before Bonnaroo did. Now a days, indie rock, hip hop and edm dominate the undercard while the headliners can be anything from Top 40 to classic rock. Roo and Coachella really pride themselves on eclectic, far reaching lineups.US promoters long considered American hard rock/metal fans too risky for camping festivals. It's gradually starting to catch on with events like Rock on the Range, but the jam/indie scene dominates US rock festivals.
Download
All I know is Axl Rose better bring it. If he's not physically in shape and capable of at least 2010 vocals, this whole thing will fall on its face. Talk about pressure. He's gotta feel some Edited January 6, 2016 by Download
3rd Wheel
I wonder what specifically Trunk heard in September 2014 that a reunion was being put into motion? DJ didn't officially quit until the following July but maybe Axl was considering dumping him before that?http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/209188-eddie-trunk-a-gnr-reunion-has-been-put-to-motion/Funny looking back on responses, including my own:"I want to call bullshit, but then again I thought the whole Duff in South America thing was bullshit up until the 1st of April.Still, I think this is highly unlikely."I'd also like to reiterate that this thread needs to be unlocked: http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/9190-pleas-go-to-mexico/¿Dónde estás Luiz?#BringBackLuizThat thread was legendary. At this point, Axl knows this is out there. GNR management knows this is out there. It's from an official source, the festival itself. Axl probably ready it and signed off himself. If Slash and/or Duff isn't there -- and never was involved or Axl denies everything closer to the date -- Axl is leaving himself and Guns N' Roses vulnerable to a lawsuit from any pissed-off fan who pays money thinking Slash/Duff are involved. Axl is negligent, in that scenario. My opinion of the scarce details: Axl, Slash and Duff haven't locked in Izzy and are undecided on drummer.
