liers
Him and late 90s-early 2000s Axl must've gotten along pretty good.
Asia
As much and as openly as I hate the idea of Axl fronting AC/DC right from the start, I have to admit that what Mr Niven wrote here is such bollocks that I'm still not sure, whether to laugh or cry over that poor man that has drifted away into some serious mental illness long ago
DieselDaisy
Well if you are silly enough to believe Axl is on the same pedestal as your Dylans and Lennons, and dislike AC/DC's brand of prepubescent rock n' roll, you might concur that Niven has a point. I don't think Axl aimed to be in Dylan's or Lennons lyrical styling though. Besides Civil War and Chinese Democracy he never really wrote about social-political subjects. There's even an interview at Donnington '88 where he was asked about similarities between Guns and Maiden and he said Maiden used their music to express their political beliefs and he said he never wanted to be like that. IncitingChaos
HAHAHA! I hope this gets published as much as the Axl fat photo did to show the crazies that Axl has had to deal with, outside of himself.

I believe he said your band is like your political view point, and theirs was nothing like GNRs, and he hoped to never be like that and it's not catching.

Popular Post Blackstar
At least the mystery about Axl's voice is solved. Niven opened our eyes; we know now that Axl sold his soul to the devil to get his voice back Edited June 14, 2016 by Blackstar

So, I guess, symbols don't mean much do they? The only meaning a symbol has is what people decide to give it. AC/DC makes great rock music and my impression is that they're good, normal people. The imagery they use is satirical not satanic and if anything it is mocking the devil, not endorsing it. because the vatican switched to the other side long time ago. But this is for another thread I think.

Sorry but this is a very misinformed view. The songs are tongue in cheek and "Hell" as it's sung is usually a euphemism for something else (e.g. Highway to Hell is a song about the touring life). To suggest the AC/DC guys are any more "satantic" than GN'R is objectively hilarious - GN'R were known for far wilder, more controversial behaviour (and material!) than AC/DC ever were. Alan Niven just confirmed how batshit crazy he really is.

WhazUp
I can think of a LOT of reasons to be dissapointed in Axl from the 90's up to recent times... .... however Axl Rose in 2016 is the Axl Rose we have all been waiting for. I am happy at nearly everything Axl has done this year and I feel positive about GNR for the first time in years

Popular Post stella
Translation: "I'm pissed and bitter that Axl's actually achieving something and is getting great reviews so I'm going to sling mud at him." He's not disappointed that Axl's in AC/DC; he's disappointed that Axl's doing well. The comments about AC/DC's imagery sound like something Tipper Gore would have said in the mid-80s. I don't know enough about that band to know their beliefs, but I've never heard of them being seriously affiliated with any faith one way or the other.
Popular Post Lumikki
In the other Alan Niven thread we had recently, people were defending his every word and called everyone who pointed out that Niven is a crazy, biased douchebag an Axlite. Now that he's completely gone off the deep end and showing his true colors, no one's defending him anymore all of a sudden. Funny. This is admittedly even crazier and facepalm-worthier than I expected from him, but it doesn't surprise me at all. He's been a really weird asshole with a giant grudge for a long time. And I don't even know what to say to this... rant. I'm not the biggest fan of the Axl/DC thing either, but.. what?! Seriously, WTF?! Axl's doing great, he's having an amazing year and deserves to be lauded for it. But Alan Niven has always been absolutely incapable of saying anything even remotely nice or positive about Axl, so now that he can't find anything bad to say, he has to go to crazy lengths to come up with something negative.
