Martin Kove the badass sensai also showed up that night to rock with us. The only dark haired guy in the pic is my TV/Movie Mananger and one of the best in the industry Gary Ousdahl. This whole concept, playing only GnR songs with this dork singer...I feel ashamed for Steven. And with all this bullshit talk of his and that annoying singer...I totally can see why GnR don't wanna deal with him on a regular basis.Kinda sad.

I’ve been searching for videos but can only find small clips on instagram and they sound like they’ve slowed the songs down a lot to me, probably so Constantine can keep up? (I’m not sure you can just post some random persons IG video here.) I can imagine You’re Crazy is very difficult to sing but I wouldn’t have thought OTGM is, so not sure why that song is missing? Gunner927
Shit, I bet after watching that performance, Axl is thinking to himself, "Fuck! Now I'm gonna have to bring Steven into the fold full-time, just so I can stop Constantine from blowing us away with these performances every night!"

Regardless of how difficult it is to sing, Steven was boasting how they'd play AFD in full, 'the way it's supposed to be', and I'm not seeing any of it. It seems that his interviews get more attention than his shows. I can't seem to find any review either, about the show or about his Q&A with his mother Has anyone else found anything about the actual shows? DieselDaisy
You do realise it is Adler's Appetite here? I mean his last singer was Jizzy Pearl. With the greatest respect they were never going to attract the Great Caruso. Edited May 19, 2018 by DieselDaisy
Popular Post Euchre
I just got back from the Adelaide show...yeah 2 days drive home, Australia's a big place, but I missed Adler in Oz 30 years ago, wasn't going to miss him again. Off topic, but going to see L.A. Guns tonight. Kind of surreal to see both these bands, in Oz in the same week, 30 years after their debuts. L.A. Guns never even toured here in their prime. Anyway Adelaide show was great. Format was 30 min Q&A with Adler and his mum, then short break then show. I wondered how the Q&A was going to go before hand as I've never seen anything like this before at a show and had the potential to go horribly wrong. However crowd was into it...everyone pushed to the front of the stage and listened, the interviewer was quite engaging and the responses entertaining. The crowd was quite into it and Steve took the time to interact with the fans at the front. I've never been to a show in Adelaide before, but one girl told him that big bands rarely played Adelaide due to its small size so she really appreciated they played there - crowd seem to agree. Die hards would have heard most of the stories / answers before, so the most interesting one for me was one I hadn't heard before where he said Marc Canter told him (Adler) that if he wanted he would lock him in his basement for however long it took him to get off whatever drugs he was hooked on at the time, but Adler told him it would only make him more and more resentful and as soon as he was released would go back and hit it harder, so it never happened. But shows Marc was really looking out for the band. He also elaborated a bit more about the offer to join AC/DC and basically acknowledged that even if the offer wasn't withdrawn he would have messed it up due to his addiction at the time. The other funny (or not so funny depending on how you look at it) story that came out was after the Darwin show the night before, Steven set off the fire alarm in his hotel room at 1:30 in the morning after he lit up a joint in his bathroom. In Australia you cop a $1,500 fine for a false fire alarm, so after the fire brigade arrive and the alarm switched off, that is what happened to him - as the interviewer said trouble just seems to follow him around. For Those About to Rock led the intro tape and the band came out, crowd went wild and they kicked into Reckless Life, now that was awesome...... Everyone has seen the set list above, so I won't go through song by song, but as mentioned whole of Appetite, less You're Crazy and Out Ta Get Me, plus Reckless, Civil War, You Could Be Mine and a drum solo. Highlights for me were the songs that didn't get played so much so Reckless, Think About You, Anything Goes (Constantine said this had become his favourite song to perform and he genuinely seemed excited by it and I think this is the one where he jumped into the crowd to sing a verse) & You Could Be Mine - really cool to hear Adler's take on this... unsurprisingly he makes it feel more like the Appetite era. Rocket Queen as always was awesome as well. I was disappointed that they didn't play You're Crazy, as again it falls into that bucket of rarely played. Out Ta Get Me didn't bother me so much as obviously just have heard him play it recently with 3 other of the GNR guys. Cool thing about the stage set up at the venue is it wrapped around one side of the stage, so I spent most of the show off to this side where I could get an uninterrupted view of Adler playing. It was great to see, and I got a small video snippet of RQ, which came out great - wish I took more. The other thing that was kinda cool was that from that spot you could here what they were staying on stage, so before he announced it to the crowd later in the show I could hear he didn't have a set list so kept asking the guitarist what was next and giving instructions to the band about how the song was going to be intro'd etc. Great insight you don't normally get at a show. Adler interacted a lot with the fans and you could see he was really enjoying himself. Band overall played really well - too well in fact for my liking - everything stayed pretty true to the record, I would have preferred them to go off and improvise a bit, but if you wanted an accurate re-creation of Appetite that is what it was. I've read the comments on the board about Constantine's signing. He isn't Axl, but then again the guitarist ain't Slash, the bassist ain't Duff, Richard isn't Izzy and Frank isn't Adler. So I didn't go in expecting to hear the AFD5, and personally I didn't find anything wrong with the singing and from what I could tell neither did the crowd, they were right into it. Obviously everyone would prefer the original 5 guys, so if you can't have it, this is as good as it will get if you want to hear those songs. Final point was Adler ripped through the set effortlessly, he barely seemed like he raised a sweat, looked like he could have went on a lot longer. Every so often during the set he'd look up to the crowd and his trademark wide grin would come across his face, just like in the old days, and at those moments it was like it was '88 all over again. It was really cool to see like the old magic is still there and it was these times during the set that did make me wish that one day we do see the original band back together, with just the 5 of them, no more, no less as it would be pure magic. Overall show was great, band didn't bullshit around just came in punched through the 13 songs so show didn't drag on for ever and didn't have to sit through endless covers. Yes if you can't tell once shows start getting above 90mins or so, I start getting bored, so I like the high energy come, play, leave. Overall I would say if you love the Appetite era, go see this show, if you love the Illusion era go see NITL, if you love both...go see both. 6 3

Lio
Nice to hear the show went great. If you get fined for setting off the hotel fire alarm for lighting a joint, I wouldn't call that 'trouble following you around' though.
