Popular Post Blackstar
A little story from the documentary "Beside Bowie-The Mick Ronson Story": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myrWE2TV3vU&list=PLqMraAddy1gqhq4fZykIYGPs9K2us5qwi https://www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-news/beside-bowie-new-documentary-traces-life-of-guitarist-mick-ronson-126204/ After that meeting (apparently), Axl and Slash joined Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson at the Palace in L.A. on December 13, 1989 for a live version of Velvet Underground's White Light/White Heat. Steve Jones was also supposed to join them (he opened for the Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson band). Axl: "Then another time [at the Palace a few weeks before] we were supposed to do “Suffragette City” with Mick Ronson and Ian Hunter – Steve Jones and Slash and me. But then Steve decided he didn’t wanna stick around, so me and Slash got up and did “White Light/White Heat” with Ian and Mick. I didn’t even know the song and neither did Slash, we learned it really quick right before we walked on stage. I remember just following Ian around going ooh wooh, white light la la... It was fuckin’ great.’ " [Interview with Mick Wall, January 1990] It would be great if there was footage from this. ---------------- I wasn't sure if I should post this in D&N or in the Jungle section (as it isn't much), so mods feel free to move it if necessary. Dean
Mick Ronson was a hugely underrated guitarist. The riffs he came up with were iconic and escalated Bowie's songwriting prowess to a whole different level. Rest in power

lame ass security
Or maybe Putting Out Fire. Ziggy could be interesting also.
Len Cnut
Axl don't have the voice for em. Bowie songs I mean. And I'd've put money on him and Slash not knowing White Light/White Heat. Shame Stevo left when he did because he definitely knew it, he covered it in The Professionals.

I'm not saying he's a shit singer, he's clearly a fantastic singer with more than enough in the way of vocal registers and such, he's just very...large, very grand, its not really what Bowie songs need, in the same way its not what Sympathy for the Devil needed. Blackstar
He could do one of the ballad-y songs, Rock N' Roll Suicide for example.

I wish Axl would do some more softer songs in the way of Patience or the beginning of Dead Horse.

lame ass security
I'm Afraid of Americans would be good for Axl just because of the song content. Edited April 17, 2019 by lame ass security
Powderfinger
I stuck on the soundtrack to Ziggy last night and then the Santa Monica 72 gig that was released on vinyl a few years ago. Ronsons backing vocals along with his guitar playing are such a huge part of that "Ziggy" sound.
vikute91
Axl has (or used to have) many voices, I think he could find one that fits. Lyrics is another question. Bowie's lyrics are a tad too weird for Axl to pull off, I think. Nonetheless, would like to hear that... but not Rebel Rebel or others that everyone covers. I'm thinking more of something like 5 Years (one of my favs).

Popular Post Andy14
Another musician Axl met was Lou Reed at one of his concerts back in 1989. This photo is taken from Lou's archives. 3
