We love Axl Rose
February 10, 1988 - Celebrity Theatre, Anaheim, CA (Night 2) Axl's review: From Rock Scene Magazine [June, 1988] - RS: What are some of the select gigs that stick out in your mind? Axl: The Celebrity Theater in Anaheim, both shows, the second show especially because we were on top of it. We played better than I think we've ever played, and I don't know why. It just felt good, the people were into it, and it wasn't so much that we knew all the people in the crowd. Perkins Palace, the first couple shows were more that way. Anaheim was, like, the crowd we didn't really know. It was a crazy show and... we just felt good. We cranked it out for over two hours, and that means going over... You're not really rehearsing on the road, you're just playing your set, and when you're an opening band you're only playing 45 minutes. Then you gotta remember how to play the other songs that you haven't played. We pulled a couple songs out of the hat, and did both versions of "You're Crazy." That was just really fun to do, cause it wasn't something we had done before, just pulling things out of the hat the way we did. I got a security guard thrown out of the building. The security guards were actually so rough that night, they lost the contract with the building... I liked that. Everything went real smoothly. We had good sound on stage, which is rare. February 10, 2012 - Roseland Ballroom, New York, NY Notes: The first show on the Up Close And Personal tour. Axl was wished a Happy Birthday during the show. Setlist: Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Estranged, Rocket Queen, Richard Fortus Guitar Solo (James Bond Theme)/Live And Let Die, This I Love, You Could Be Mine, Sorry, Better, Dj Ashba Guitar Solo (Mi Amor)/Sweet Child O' Mine, Jam (Another Brick In The Wall: Part 2)/November Rain, Bumblefoot Guitar Solo (Pink Panther), Whole Lotta Rosie, Civil War, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Nightrain Encore: Jam/Madagascar, Don't Cry, Motivation, Jam/Patience, Jam/Paradise City February 10, 2017 - Sydney, Australia (Night 1) Notes: Special guest appearance by Angus Young of AC/DC. "A good friend and a great humanitarian". During Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Axl yells out "Bass solo!" when he's next to Duff. Setlist: It’s So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Chinese Democracy, Welcome To The Jungle, Double Talkin’ Jive, Better, Estranged, Live And Let Die, Rocket Queen, You Could Be Mine, You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory/Attitude, This I Love, Civil War, Band Intros, Slash Solo (Godfather)/Sweet Child O' Mine, Whole Lotta Rosie (with Angus Young), Riff Raff (with Angus Young), Wish You Were Here/Layla/November Rain, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Nightrain Encore: Jam (Babe I’m Gonna Leave You)/Don’t Cry, The Seeker, Paradise City

We love Axl Rose
February 12, 1984 - Troubadour, Hollywood, CA Notes: This band is "Rose" - Axl, Izzy [lead & rhythm guitar], Chris Weber [lead & rhythm guitar], Johnny Kreiss [drums] & Rick Holland [bass]. February 12, 1988 - Celebrity Theatre, Phoenix, AZ Notes: Axl tells the crowd they'll be filming a video for 'Sweet Child O' Mine' when they go back to L.A. Before 'Used To Love Her,' Axl says that Sam Kinison "kind of" inspired the song. Axl says that when Paul Stanley of Kiss was interested in producing the band he said that 'Welcome To The Jungle' needed to be re-written in order to be a "pop" hit. Needless to say Paul Stanley never worked with GN'R. This is the first documented performance of 'Only Women Bleed' by Slash. For an unknown reason Axl leaves towards the end of 'Nightrain' and the band finishes the show without him.
