ZoSoRose
I’m a casual ELO fan. For some reason, their big 2014 comeback looked really awesome to me. I remember reading about it from @Amir on here 10- years ago (crazy). I love concerts, so I have been interested in seeing Jeff Lynne’s latest version of the band, since. I missed the 2018/2019 tours, so I decided not to make that mistake with their current farewell tour- the Over and Out Tour. I just saw it, last week, and wow! It was exactly what I expected and I mean that in the best way. Has anyone else seen Jeff Lynne since he resurrected the band? The stage show was incredible. Giant UFO spaceship in the middle, huge screens, a zillion lights, lasers, the works! The star of the show, though, was the band. Jeff Lynne is 76 and knows it. He hired an impeccable ensemble to cover every single note from his recordings to perfection. He had others play his guitar leads, help him with high notes, and cover most of the music all so he could focus on singing and putting on the best show. I actually have a lot of respect for that. It didn’t take a thing away from the show, and if anything, enhanced it because he could focus on one thing (singing his parts) and do the absolute best he could at that one thing. There is no shame in aging, and if you are going to keep on touring, using the best in the business to help your sound is the way to go. Nobody cared that he didn’t do the solo to Mr. Blue Sky, they were too busy enjoying the excellently played music. I wish Axl would adjust- sing lower, use more backing vocals, and utilize Melissa to double up high notes. Anyways, any ELO fans here? Been trying out some deeper cuts, and am loving From the Sun to the Earth and Tightrope, right now
