Ridin' the Nightrain
Opeth get the most influencial metal band of the 90s status, I'd say. At least in the proper metal scene. Korn suck.

Dead Flower
C'mon, they're not that bad. I really enjoyed 'Follow the Leader' back in the day. Don't listen to 'em much at all nowadays, though.A lot of Nu-Metal sounds pretty good to me. Deftones are awesome and I think Slipknot rock. Even some more established bands have made great nu-metal sounding stuff - Down by Stone Temple Pilots, True Nature by Jane's Addiction, etc - I'm not sure how you'd classify those songs, but they've definitely got nu-metal influences, imo. -Sephiroth-
I like KoRn's old stuff..I listened quite alot on the first two albums when they came out. They kinda started their own genre, and they are ofcourse one of the most influental bands of the 90's. I wouldn't call em metal though.I only like the two first albums, but I hardly ever listen to em anymore. It's not very timeless.
kleber
The first album as the 98 follow the leader are good albums in my opinion, and they also have some decent songs from other albums.I barely listen to them nowadays, even didn't listen all the songs in last album, but i am respect who likes them.
