Recommend me some '50s rock

Someone on a different forum recommended the original "Train Kept A Rollin'" by the John Burnette Trio.....which is very heavy for 1954 IMO. The song definitely kicks ass. I think I like it almost as much as the Aerosmith cover.

I like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Buddy Holly so far. Any other recommendations? I feel like I've overlooked '50s stuff for too long. Thanks.

If you want the true original version, check out Tiny Bradshaw. He wrote and recorded the song in 1951.

Also, Bo Diddley is one of my favorites from the '50s as well.

Eddie Cochran

Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps

Carl Perkins

Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats...some will argue that their song Rocket 88 was the first rock and roll song ever recorded.

check those cats out...didn't get much cooler than that!

So who gets credited as the first rock act??

Bill Haley - Rock Around the Clock.

it's reeeeallly hard to say who was first.

nobody really "invented" rock n roll....it was just a natural progression of that time and place in music.

i guess chuck berry will always be the guy who "invented" rock n roll to me, cause he is the first great rock n roll guitarist, lyricist, frontman, and songwriter. he guy really wrote incredible shit. little richard's importance cannot be underestimated either. buddy holly was great, but eddie cochran was better. had eddie cochran lived past 21, he probably would have been bigger than elvis....
